The AIB files with the Division of Insurance a standardized policy for private passenger automobile insurance for use in Massachusetts, along with the necessary forms, endorsements and rules manual. With the introduction of competitive rating, the AIB policy now serves as an advisory filing which may be adopted by each insurance company, either in whole or in part, and modified to specify the insurer’s coverage and rules. The 2008 AIB policy is currently in effect. The Seventh Edition Policy was introduced in 2000 as the standard policy used by all insurers.
